The Science Outreach Educator represents the Museum for many outside constituents who cannot or do not attend the Museum in person. Airlie’s 2,700-square foot Butterfly House is home to many different native butterflies in this seasonal, screened structure from mid-May through mid-October. In addition to adult butterflies, eggs, caterpillars and chrysalises are often visible and provide a great opportunity for visitors to learn more about the butterfly’s life cycle and their relationship with native plants.
In addition to assisting with the operations of the butterfly house, our classroom exhibit houses a variety of insects, reptiles and amphibians which this position will assist in the husbandry of these animals.
