The W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is hiring for a part-time avian care position to assist with the daily husbandry of the Sanctuary's captive bird collection. This position is required to work weekends and some weekday hours. We are hoping to fill the position before the end of July.
Under the general direction of the Chief Conservation Education Officer, this position is responsible to cultivate an effective team of Conservation Interpreters who provide excellent experiences to Zoo guests. The position also develops oral and visual educational messaging throughout the Zoo.
Project Description
Join the Ocean Education Team at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History to help in the design, implementation and evaluation of visitor programs and volunteer support efforts focused on the museum’s Sant Ocean Hall themes and Earth Optimism. The Ocean Education Team is a dynamic group whose mission is to connect different audiences to ocean science, conservation and scientists through exhibits, activities, programs, and resources.
Under direct supervision, this position supports the activities of two critical programs in Education: 1) Talk on the Wild Side and 2) Zoo Teacher Assistant teen volunteers. Among other duties as assigned or directed, the incumbent is expected to serve as the programs’ main mentor, educator, and coordinator. Given the seasonal nature of this position from June through August, the incumbent is also expected to work full time during those months.
The ECO AmeriCorps member will assist in the planning and implementation of nature based programming for people of all ages, the overarching goal being to inspire community members to become their own environmental stewards. One will gain experience in creating environmental programs that not only teach about a diversity of eco-systems, they would also be mentored by museum staff in how to facilitate learning in developmentally appropriate ways that inspire action.
This position engages with guests on the exhibit floor, maintains the different stations around the center (e.g., touch tank, aviary, and activity desks), leads tours and encounter presentations, and is responsible for connecting visitors to the mission of the Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC). Each day is some combination of the tasks above.

The Northcoast Marine Mammal Center in Crescent City, California, is seeking applicants for several internships in marine mammal stranding response and rehabilitation. Internships are a minimum of 12 weeks, with longer commitments encouraged. Applicants will be living and working in Crescent City, CA.
This is an entry-level position in interpretation responsible for facilitating mission-driven programming on and off the Dallas Zoo campus. Interpreters will actively engage audiences through interpretation, wildlife conservation programs, field expeditions, inter-generational programming, and conservation campaigns. Interpreters must be comfortable interpreting any topic relevant to the zoo and wildlife conservation to a wide variety of audiences.
