Press Release: NAAEE + MECCE Report on K–12 Climate Change Education Policy in the United States

"Mapping the Landscape of K–12 Climate Change Education Policy in the United States" is a new comprehensive report from NAAEE and the MECCE Project on the state of climate change education policy. This report underscores the importance of including climate change in education policies in all areas of institutional activity—from governance and operations to curriculum and community partnerships—to advance climate change action.

In celebration of World Oceans Day this week, the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP) is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the 2022 Youth Innovation Challenge (YIC): Tackling Marine Debris. This challenge will invite people aged 15–30 from around the world to share fresh ideas for tackling marine debris issues. Three winners will receive a $1,000 USD grant.

AEOE, in partnership with Ten Strands and the California Environmental Literacy Initiative (CAELI), is pleased to offer the 2022 Environmental Education Organization of the Year Award to Save California Salmon. This award, given annually, recognizes an outstanding organization that is advancing the impact of environmental and outdoor education in California in a meaningful way by offering innovative programs, following research-based best practices, and/or promoting equitable access to environmental learning.

Read about Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow Sustainability Innovation prize winners, Central Falls High School students, who were recognized for their work envisioning ways to transform abandoned areas into sustainable green space within the city. Samsung partnered with NAAEE to present the students with the award and a $10,000 prize package for their sustainability project.

To get inspired and focus creatively on our work, we hope you can join with us to learn, share, and network at one or both of our annual conferences. It’s been two years since the NAAEE community has been able to be together, and we are excited to hold in-person conferences this year, each with an engaging virtual component.

Samsung partnered with the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) for the first Solve for Tomorrow Sustainability Innovation award, furthering Samsung’s commitment to sustainability. This year, Central Falls High School from Central Falls, Rhode Island, was selected as the winner by a committee of judges for addressing environmental justice and redeveloping abandoned areas to increase urban greenery. The school was awarded a $10,000 in energy-efficient Samsung technology prize package of products to help bring their project idea to life.

Pratt & Whitney E-STEM Announcement Press Release

Pratt & Whitney is excited to announce the Pratt & Whitney E-STEM Awards in partnership with the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE). The awards will grant a total of $250,000 USD to support innovative E-STEM education programs around the world that build the skills and capacity for students ages 11–18 to use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to address environmental challenges. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Press Release November 1, 2021

Samsung has extended the deadline for 6–12th grade teachers to apply for the Solve for Tomorrow Contest. Teachers have two weeks left to apply to win technology and classroom supplies using STEM learning to address local issues in a sustainable way. Applications are now due November 15.

EE 30 Under 30 Changemakers Grantees 2021 Press Release

Registration is now open for the North American Association for Environmental Education’s (NAAEE) 49th Annual Conference and 17th Research Symposium, the largest gathering of formal and nonformal environmental educators in the world. All events, including additional workshops and networking opportunities, will be held online over two weeks between October 5 and 16. Dr. Ibram Kendi, author of "How to Be an Antiracist" and one of America’s foremost historians, will kick off an exceptional lineup of conference keynote speakers focusing on addressing racism and promoting civic engagement.
