The Summer Safari Camp Educator position advances the mission of Zoo Atlanta by creating experiences that engage, educate and energize program participants to action. Specifically, summer camp educators facilitate learning for groups ages Pre Kindergarten-Rising 12th Graders (4-17 years old) using interactive, STEAM-based curriculum that showcases Zoo Atlanta’s work to conserve wildlife and wild places; how to protect our environment; and how every person can make a difference in these areas.
Intern will team with the interpretive staff for 20 hours a week and with the Chiswell staff for 20 hours a week. Interns will assist with the day-to-day support of animal-related research activities involving Steller sea lions. Candidates should exhibit a strong interest in field-based and animal-related research work and associated support. Applicants should possess the ability to work for extended periods of time while staying focused on the task at hand.

This position is a shared effort between Kenai Fjords National Park (KFNP) and the Alaska SeaLife Center. Site-specific training will be conducted separately by each organization. For the purposes of the National Park Service, this position is recognized as a non-supervisory Park Guide in interpretation.

The IMMS Animal Training Internship Program is designed as a way for students/individuals interested in a career in animal care and training to gain valuable experience in a real-world setting. Interns will primarily be trained in aspects of animal care, but will also participate in other activities at IMMS. Our goal is to give interns a well-rounded experience in a variety of areas while providing expert training and experience. This is an unpaid position and all interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation. Once accepted, IMMS staff will be able to assist interns in suggesting suitable housing and locations. Positions are limited. IMMS reserves the right to end an internship at any time.
