As a Motor Safari Adventure Tour Guide/Tram Driver, you will provide extraordinary guest experiences through the safe and conscientious operation of the Carousel, Motor Safari trams, and Express buses. Specifically, responsible for transporting guests on designated routes throughout the park, narrating motor safari tours, operating and providing access control function at Motor Safari stations and Carousel.  There may be times that you will be operating the Motor Safari trams and Express buses while simultaneously narrating.

This is a seasonal/temporary position.  Pay rate $13.00 per hour.  Incumbent  Must be at least 18 years of age.  Valid driver's license required.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide the highest level of quality customer service while representing the Chicago Zoological Society in a professional manner at all times.  Provide assistance and directions to guests.
2. Deliver extensive park narratives on Motor Safari trams and Snowball Express buses while driving in a safe, conscientious manner, including through large crowds.
3. Operate Carousel in a safe manner following established procedures.  Perform and maintain daily operational checklist.
4. Develop and learn approved tour materials and communicate special event and other information as directed.
5. Accountable for following and enforcing all applicable institutional policies and procedures and departmental protocols.
6. Provide a neat, clean appearance of self, vehicle, tram areas, and Carousel area at all times, which includes washing and cleaning vehicles and Carousel.
7. Ensure all guests boarding the tram and Carousel possess a ticket and provide the access control function.  Sell Motor Safari tickets during off season.
8. Other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements and Specifications:

1. High School graduate or (GED) equivalent preferred.
2. Accurate basic math and reading skills required.
3. Six months of prior driving experience transporting people preferred, but not required.
4. Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
5. Good communications and interpersonal skills.
6. Theatrical experience preferred.
7. Ability to communicate well with the public required.
8. Must be at least 18 years of age.
9. Must be flexible and patient.
10. Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.  Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.
11. Valid driver's license required.
12. One or more of the following licensures may be required:  Valid "C" or "B" (CDL) Driver's License.
13. Valid medical authorization card required for positions responsible for operation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle.

This seasonal position requires a high level of customer service.  Incumbent must have the ability to learn and adhere to Society policies and departmental procedures and standards.  Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Brookfield Zoo is open every day of the year!  We are seeking individuals who are able to work a flexible schedule
that includes working weekend days and holidays (when we are busiest) as well as regular week days. The work shifts are usually from 4 to 8 hours in length generally during the hours that Brookfield Zoo is open.  The work schedule may start as early as 8:00 a.m. and end as late as 7:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m. on weekends and for special events).  This position generally requires flexible availability to work non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
