Overview:

Scope and Responsibilities:

1. Presenting educational talks to guests

2. Conducting reptile encounters for guests; is comfortable handling small animals, including snakes

3. Creating memorable guest experiences

4. New hire communication 

5. Guest and employee safety including performing regular safety audits

6. As a SEA LIFE Operations duty manager you must be able to deal with guest issues, building cleanliness, building operations, monitoring employee performance, and opening and closing building responsibilities.

7. Coaching staff and upholding employee performance standards

8. Providing Breaks for employees

9. Supporting the assistant managers and assisting in the communication of all relevant department and company information.

10. Ensuring standard operating procedures are adhered to and followed at all times.

11. Communicating any facility problems, safety issues or staffing problems to management team

12. Will be responsible for ongoing projects

13. Responsible for aquarium inventory tracking such as supplies, props, and educational materials. 

14. Responsible for submitting and tracking work orders.

15. May have assigned tasks to complete and take responsibility for.

16. Will be the primary closer when assigned as duty manager.

 

Background and Experience:

Prior experience in an aquarium/theme park setting preferred.
Must have full/flexible availability including weekends and holidays. 
Must possess strong leadership abilities.
Must be comfortable presenting to large crowds.
Must have strong communication skills.
Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.
Leads by example with a history of supporting colleagues and employees.
Requires strong problem solving skills
Dedicated to providing outstanding guest service.
Requires the ability to remain calm under pressure. 
Requires strong organizational skills with a good attention to detail.

 

Health and Safety:

 

Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues and guests (where appropriate), in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law. In particular, they must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities that they undertake and they must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained.  Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are reported to their line manager and must cooperate with any investigation as appropriate. A SEA LIFE Operations Team Lead (Senior MC) is responsible for the upkeep of high SEA LIFE safety standards and ensures all operating procedures are adhered at all times. When acting as SEA LIFE Operations duty manager a SEA LIFE Operations Team Lead (Senior MC) is responsible for the safety of guests and employees in the aquarium.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Specialization in science or education course work preferred.
