This position will contribute to Defenders of Wildlife’s renewable energy development and wildlife conservation efforts, with a focus on offshore wind energy development (and a primary focus on the Pacific Ocean). The Senior Analyst will focus on offshore wind energy development risk to sensitive species, particularly those protected under the Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act and will engage in federal and state policies and permitting processes for offshore development.

The Controller is responsible for the cash receipts process, the restricted grant process, and month-end close process for Defenders of Wildlife. The Controller ensures optimum compliance with generally accepted accounting principles in completion of these areas of responsibility; the efficient and effective use of internal controls; and regular application of best practices. The Senior Conservation Scientist plays a lead role in providing support, building capacity, and advancing research on conservation science issues. As a senior team member of the Center for Conservation Innovation (CCI), the Senior Conservation Scientist leads a team which enhances the work of the organization to improve imperiled species and habitat conservation by integrating quality science into Defenders’ programs and by ensuring that Defenders’ science is informed by emerging policy.
