Cheers to All Who Are Teaching Climate Change! You’ve Got Lots of Support!
On Earth Day 4/22/19, NPR released the results of their poll about climate change education – and there’s plenty of good news in the results!
80% of parents in the U.S. support the teaching of climate change; and 86% of teachers agree that climate change should be taught.
The data graphs in NPR's article show results of subsets of the population surveyed so that you can see the differences between parents, teachers, democrats, republicans on a number of different questions. It’s a fascinating study showing how far we have come and where there’s still work to be done. NPR’s article also includes quotes from a variety of teachers, some suggestions for teaching materials and approaches (as sidebars) – and word is that they will be doing additional stories on this topic, so stay tuned!
