Vision
The vision of KAEE is an environmentally literate society committed to a sustainable future.
Mission
The mission of KAEE is to promote excellence in environmental education by providing support, resources, and networking opportunities to Kentucky’s community of educators.
Goals & Objectives
The Kentucky Association for Environmental Education is a non-profit and serves as the professional membership-based organization for environmental education in Kentucky.
Since 1976, the KAEE has worked to build a sustainable environment through education. KAEE is one of the country’s oldest associations supporting environmental education and the first affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education. KAEE has an established network of over 200 individual and organizational members made up of local and state board and department of education representatives, governmental representatives from natural resource related agencies, business and industry representatives, and non-profit EE related organizations. KAEE works with members and partners to bring sound environmental education to all citizens of the Commonwealth, both young and old. We work together because we care about education, our environment, and our future. KAEE relies on the skills and talents of the many dedicated educators of our state to build environmental education into their curricula and programs. The educational principles that KAEE promotes were developed through the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education, sponsored by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE).
Current Initiatives
- Provide quality educational programs and resources for environmental education.
- Build KAEE’s organizational effectiveness to support environmental education in Kentucky.
- Build public support for and investment in environmental education in Kentucky.
- Enhance the capacity and resiliency of the environmental education field in Kentucky and beyond.
In addition, KAEE is working to build capacity across the region and the continent through its role as a leader in the Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance (SEEA) and the NAAEE Affiliate Network.
