Educators engage students in their home environments and dig deep into how built and natural systems work in tandem. The Lead Educator is responsible for the delivery and on-site coordination of IslandWood’s Seattle school day program. The program is taught by hourly educators at parks and outdoor locations around the city and augments science curriculum for 4th grade students in Seattle Public Schools. This position is also responsible for registering teachers for all Urban School Programs using Salesforce; the registration work is heaviest in April and May.

IslandWood’s mission is to provide exceptional learning experiences and inspire lifelong environmental and community stewardship. Our School Overnight Program (SOP) is designed for elementary-aged students in a multi-day residential school program on our 255- acre Bainbridge Campus. The SOP Coordinator manages all logistics, materials, and curriculum for SOP, acting as a resource for school groups and teachers and resource/advisor for graduate student instructors during their practicum.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Education, IslandWood’s next Director of Education for Environment and Community will be a leader who will strengthen and grow its innovative and inclusive environmental education graduate program. The EEC Director is responsible for ensuring a robust academic relationship with the University of Washington. The EEC Director provides the academic leadership for IslandWood’s graduate faculty and mentors who support a 10-month cohort learning community.
