Overview:
The Town of Brookline Recreation department is seeking a Summer Nature Camp Site Director in our nature-based summer camp for children ages 5-10. This is a unique camp program which emphasizes hands-on, field-based, experiential learning in a small, intimate setting. The Camp Director will supervise campers in the classroom and on daily field trips, lead nature-themed lessons, games, and activities with campers, be a positive and engaging presence with campers and interact with them throughout the day. Additional duties include supervising a Nature Counselor, driving a 12-passenger van to all off-site locations, and enforcing camp rules and behavior expectations. The Director will also have the opportunity to lead field trips such as gardening, tidepooling, kayaking, hiking, and fishing.
Applicants must have strong leadership skills and ability to communicate, motivate, guide and instruct children in activities. At least one year camp and/or children’s program experience, with experience in science or nature programs a plus; current standard first aid and CPR certification and current driver’s license required. Camp runs from July 6th through August 14th and the director must be available all weeks from 8:15AM-4:15PM Monday through Friday. Some pre-camp planning and training provided. Resume and cover letter by May 1st, 2020.

Compensation Information:
Compensation is an hourly wage of $18/hour, higher based on experience. Overtime is provided if the director works over 40 hours/week.
