Overview:
ROOTS is seeking a passionate educator to manage our rapidly expanding education programs. The Manager works collaboratively with the Executive Director and summer staff as well as school teachers, district staff, and community-based organizations. The Manager develops curriculum and trains educators and volunteers to facilitate fun, educational experiences for all our programs, with an emphasis on culturally-relevant, inclusive, trauma-informed teaching. The successful candidate will offer excellent communication and program management skills. This is a part-time, year-round position, averaging 20 hours per week. Hours are partly flexible and follow the school calendar. Typically the manager must be available from 3-6pm on weekdays.
Responsibilities: Manage curriculum, program evaluation, and hiring, training, and mentoring education staff. Teach Summer and After School Programs. Attend district and state trainings for After School Professionals.
Foster relationships with teachers, districts, and community partners. Work with Executive Director to facilitate work plans. Participate in regular staff meetings and trainings.
Qualifications: Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities at once. Experience working within diverse communities. A minimum of 3 years experience teaching hands-on, experiential, educational programs. A minimum of 1-year experience leading or managing a team of staff. Basic knowledge of
gardening and/or nutrition is helpful.
Compensation is $15/hr with the ability to grow into a full-time position by the Summer of 2019.
