Kentucky Children’s Garden Lead Educator Responsibilities:

• Display a customer service orientation towards the public at all times.
• Ensure the safety of patrons.
• Inform patrons of rules and enforce those rules.
• Lead and assist with daily programming activities.
• Verbally communicate with patrons of all ages as well as other staff members of the Kentucky Children’s Garden (KCG) and The Arboretum.
• Maintain and ensure the daily rhythm of the Kentucky Children’s Garden (programming, train times, daily tasks and staff breaks).
• Develop, prepare and deliver pre-scheduled birthday parties.
• Assist the Children’s Education Coordinator in the development of daily programming, outreach, and events.
• Manage the Kentucky Children’s Garden on Sundays and serve as the primary contact person on Sundays for staff and patrons.
• Assist in maintaining the grounds of the Kentucky Children’s Garden.

Key Skills: Must be reliable, organized, customer service oriented, team oriented, able to handle a fast paced environment, able to be outside during cold, hot and rainy weather, have a proven track record of working with children and the public, and be able to work weekends.  Lift up to 60lbs.

Education required: Bachelors in Natural Resources, Horticulture, Early Childhood Education, or related field.

Experience required – 1 year of formal or informal teaching experience.

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Wednesday through Sunday, February 27th – October 31st, 2018

20 hours per week, weekdays, November - through February  

Pay Range: $10 - $12/ hour
