The Professional Development of Environmental Educators: Guidelines for Excellence Online Module provides lesson plans, videos/PowerPoint presentations, and handouts ready for you to use in your college course or professional development workshop. It provides a step-by-step introduction to NAAEE's Professional Development of Environmental Educators: Guidelines for Excellence. The module begins with a general welcome session, and then moves into an investigation of the six Guidelines Themes. Finally, participants complete a Self-Assessment and create their own professional development plan.

DEADLINE PAST - - - REVIEW DRAFT of Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence . We need your help and input!!! The Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence were first published in 1996 and have been updated about every five years since then. We are in the process of revising these guidelines once again. The process is iterative. Our writing team developed the current draft. We invite you to review this draft and provide comments that will be used in the revision process. This set of guidelines describes recommendations for developing and selecting environmental education instructional resources. They aim to help producers of activity guides, lesson plans, and other instructional materials create high quality products and to provide educators with a tool to evaluate the wide array of available environmental education materials.

In response to setting new directions for in-person forums during our current climate, several National Issues Forums (NIF) partners have successfully convened virtual face-to-face forums using the Zoom platform. We are happy to be able to share their experiences and some materials and tips about convening a deliberative face-to-face online forum using a platform like Zoom.

It’s not often that you are able to attend a professional development workshop and put virtually everything you gleaned from that training into practice. Thanks to serendipitous timing and a team that was eager to experiment with a new (to us) approach to conservation capacity building, our Roger Williams Park Zoo education department was able to do just that! NAAEE’s Guidelines for Excellence: Community Engagement workshop served as the inspiration for the development of Earth Agents™, a program designed to build our zoo’s community relationships and our conservation impact.
