The Martius-Spix expedition traveled to the Brazilian rainforest in 1817, leaving a remarkable record for scholars young and old. We are happy to announce the second edition of RTR1 which includes the long-lost Volume 3, The Amazon !
We are happy to be translating Volume 3 from Travels in Brazil, the Martius-Spix expedition 1817-20 . Our Eco education program, Remember the Rainforest 1, is based on the work of the rainforest explorers of the 1800s, the Age of Collectors. Volume 3, the part about the Amazon was lost in a fire in London in 1824. Soon all of the italicized words will have links to their images, just as they do in Volumes 1 and 2.

Scientists exploring Earth from Space have taught us the intimate relationship between Earth and Sky, and the inter-relatedness of the Earth, Wind, Fire and Water cycles. Based on the Martius-Spix expedition 1817, Remember the Rainforest is a window in time, a glimpse of the Earth’s potential at its fullest, 1817-20. RTR creates, promotes and supports Ecology education K12.

Remember the Rainforest was reviewed and approved by the British govt. for Curriculum OnLine (COL 2008), by the Da Vinci Science Center, and by the National Wildlife Federation. It has been under further development since the economic crisis of 2008. It is now offered as a free resource for Eco events like Earth Day, and as a library resource for 1000s of images and translations of the explorers’ journals.
