The YCC Supervisor plans and coordinates work projects that benefit the park, providing training and supervision to teens and staff in STEP, the Town’s Summer Teen Employment Program.

This is a paid, temporary full time position for 10 weeks, beginning on June 3, 2019 and ending on August 9, 2019. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The hourly rate is $12.00 per hour. Requires a drug screen and criminal background check before hiring.

Our Ideal Candidate will:

• Enjoy working with youth ages 13-18 and be motivated to build their comfort level and connection with the natural world
• Work with the park maintainer and park manager to identify suitable outdoor projects; coordinate tools and supplies necessary
• Develop training and learning activities to enhance success of work projects
• Supervise work on outdoor projects at the park 2-3 days per week
• Serve as a youth mentor; model professional work habits for STEP participants and staff
• Have a knowledge of natural habitats and skills to complete trail maintenance or simple building projects
• Possess excellent judgment and communication skills; work well as a member of the staff team to achieve positive program outcomes

Minimum Qualifications: 

• High school diploma
• Ability to operate golf cart and simple power tools
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and hike 5 miles per day
• Ability and willingness to work outside in all kinds of weather

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with teens in an educational or recreational capacity desired
• Coursework in biology or related field
• Prior experience maintaining trails or natural habitats
