Overview:

The Opportunity.

The Trustees is seeking Stewards to assist with the care of its properties on the South Shore.  The South Shore properties that characterize the communities in which they reside are:  World’s End and Weir River Farm in Hingham, MA; Whitney and Thayer Woods, Bancroft Bird Sanctuary,  Turkey Hill in Hingham and Cohasset, MA; Norris Reservation in Norwell, MA; Two Mile Farm in Marshfield, MA; and  Holmes Field in Plymouth, MA. Stewards perform routine maintenance on these properties, caring for the fields, trails, gardens, structures, and other natural and cultural features. Day to day operations include mowing reservation entrances, trimming brush, maintaining walking trails, and engaging visitors.  

 

In This Role You Will:

  • Constructing and maintaining parking areas, fences, and trails  
  • Routine maintenance of landscapes including mowing fields and lawns, tree and shrub care, and brush removal  
  • Maintaining buildings and structures using carpentry tools, paint brush, and other hand tools  
  • Removing trash and litter   
  • Assisting in the care of domestic livestock at Weir River Farm and hay operations at World’s End  
  • Watering newly planted trees at World’s End  
  • Helping with seasonal events   
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation  

 

Other Information

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Stewards will need to be able to lift 50 lbs.   
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.   
  • Pass a driving record check and criminal background check.   
  • Valid driver's license

 

Education and Experience:  

  • High School diploma   

 

Organizational Relationships/Scope:  

  • Reports to the Stewardship Manager  

 

Working Conditions:  

  • Able to work in variable outdoor weather conditions   
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds required  
  • Please include a flexible start date of March 18th- July 1st
