Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Personnel

Hire, train, manage, schedule, evaluate, and coach to the education staff.
Recruit, train, and manage an education volunteer team to help with programming.
Maintain, review and supply required personnel information including, time sheets, expense/travel reimbursement forms and training (first-aid/CPR).
Deligate TN staff so that their project time is productively used to better the center
Manage  TN staff to ensure professionalism and quality program delivery.

Programming

Ensure the safety of students, visitors and staff.
Serve as the primary point of contact for participating groups when it goes beyond the Lead Naturalist job description.
Develop and coordinate school program schedules with staff and visiting schools.
Coordinate and conduct on/off site informational meetings.
Develop ONSC Field School programs with the help of supporting TN staff, manage Field School Programs, and advertise programs.
Provide on-site staff radio communications for general information, weather reports, and emergencies when needed.
Maintain program supplies and materials.
Evaluate, develop, and revise program curriculum, field journals, activities and materials as needed so they are aligned with state standards with support of TN staff.

Facilities

Oversee the facilities caretaker and maintain a project list, duties, and a needs list.
Advertise and maintain ads for the facility on social media, VRBO, and AirB&B.
Communicate with all facility renters.
Manage and revise rental contracts, rates, rules, and forms.
Manage all communications with prospective renters.
Give facility tours and answer phone calls.
When needed, help host large rental events.
Recruit and manage interns and volunteers who can help host events.

Marketing

Assist Executive Director in the recruitment of schools, groups, and other public relations opportunities.
Assist Executive Director to schedule, participate, support, and implement on-site, off-site events, programs, and outreach endeavors.
Market the facilities for rentals to the public and outside groups and recruit new clients.

Contribute to social media posts and the news letter.

Other

Develop new programs and/or citizen science-research for implementation on or off site independently or in collaboration with other staff develop.
Collaborate with the team to create a cohesive and safe work culture in which all are able to contribute effectively to the center’s mission.
Represent ONSC in the community at large and at public and/or professional meetings.
Maintain a creative vision for the future.
Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Experience in nature/science education or outdoor recreation.
Experience with nonprofits
Experience in rentals or sales
Effective communicator (both written and verbal) with public speaking experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office- Word, Powerpoint, Excel.
Minimum of 2 years experience managing staff.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in organizational management, hospitality, marketing, education, ecology or other natural science discipline, or management of non-profit organziations.

Proven track record of growing client/school base.
Experience in non-profit staff management.
Experience in nonprofit rentals and/or related sales.
Experience teaching science or nature programming/interacting with schools.
Ability to take existing ideas and programs and add creative new solutions.
Digital/social media proficiency.
