Overview:
Instructors deliver residential, 1-5-day environmental education programs to 4th - 8th grade students from New England schools. We focus on social and emotional learning, science and engineering skills, and adventure education. Our lessons are standards- aligned and each program is customized to support student learning in the classroom. The hands-on lessons focus on building critical thinking skills and exploring the connections between the natural and human-made world. Instructors also facilitate team building (initiatives and low ropes) to develop students’ leadership and problem-solving skills. Instructors are responsible for educating a group of 10-12 students throughout the program, including facilitating day and night lessons, leading large group activities and hosting meals. Our Fall Season starts on September 4th and runs through mid November.
Desired Qualifications:
- -21 years of age or older
- -Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent life experience (preferred but not required)
- -Passion for working outdoors and with youth
- -Teaching experience/ experience working with youth
- -Ability to relate to students and peers in a positive, supportive manner
- -Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
- -Willingness to take on tasks outside teaching to support the program
