Charger Club Afterschool Program Educator
Department: Ansonia Board of Education/Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center

Summary:
This is a skilled part-time position in the planning and delivery of nature and recreation activities for a nature based after school program for Ansonia students in 6th grade. Work requires the use of independent judgment and is under the supervision of the Ansonia Board of Education and the Director and/or the Assistant Director of the Ansonia Nature Center.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Moderate hiking and physical activity
- Lead science lessons in classroom environment
- Supervision of school aged children
- Work independently
- Work outdoors in all seasons
- Clerical work
- Set up and breakdown of activities
Education/Experience:
Associates degree with six months experience and training in a related field or High School diploma with 2 years’ experience and training in a related field or the equivalent. Experience working with middle school students is preferred.
Qualification Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a background check performed by the Ansonia Police Department.

Physical Demands:
- Must have and retain sufficient strength, stamina, and agility required by the duties of the position.

- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Close vision shall be correctable to not less than 20/30. Distance vision without glasses shall not be less than 20/50 in either eye, with binocular vision of 20/30.

Compensation Information:
Salary Range: $15.00 hourly, 4.5 hours per week
Hours of Work:
September 23, 2019 thru May 15, 2020, hours approximately, Tuesday 3:00-5:00 and Wednesday 2:30-5:00.
Must be able to commit to this schedule for the entire school year calendar.
