Introductions

Hi Everyone,

We've had quite a few new members join our Sustainable Cities and Communities group in the last few months and I thought it might be time to start another thread for introductions! Please respond to this thread and tell us your name, your organization or position, where you're based, and what you'd like to get out of this group!

I'll go first -- I'm Sam Lindgren, one of the moderators of this group. I'm an Assistant Professor of Sustainability Education at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. From this group I hope to learn more about how environmental educators contribute to the sustainability of their own communities and to develop new partnerships or collaborations.

My name is Zachary Ashbrook. I am a graduate student in the University at Buffalo Masters of Arts in Sustainability Leadership program. I live in the City of Buffalo and I am involved extensively in my community through volunteer work on projects like our seed library, vacant lot reuse, and native plant gardening. I've been really impressed by all of the sustainability actions taking place in Buffalo, especially from a environmental justice and equity standpoint. My hope is, once I graduate, that I can stay in the area and secure a position in any organization that is doing sustainability work. I want to make a positive impact in my community.

Hi All! I am an architect designing K12 STEAM projects and curriculum about systems thinking, sustainable cities as the intersection of nature/human environments. Also I am a TeachSDG Global Ambassador (Cohort 2). I have done a few workshops at NAAEE conferences and also have a webinar from 2019 for this eePRO group : ) I am working with a media company to create digital lessons so hope to have those linked here this year!
