Maryland Sea Grant State Science Policy Fellowship program

Maryland Sea Grant is accepting applications for its State Science Policy Fellowship program.

This opportunity is for students interested in applying their research experience and critical thinking skills to advancing science-based, environmental decision-making and policy development in Maryland.

Several offices are seeking to host potential State Science Policy Fellows in 2022:

Office of the Vice President for Sustainability, University System of Maryland
Climate Program, Maryland Department of the Environment
Office of the Director, Maryland Environmental Service

Eligibility:
Graduate students who have advanced to candidacy for a Ph.D. or completed a M.S., Ph.D. or J.D. by the spring semester 2022 are eligible to apply. For graduates, degrees must have been awarded May 1, 2020, or later to be eligible. Learn more about eligibility on our website.

Funding:
This is a one-year fellowship. Fellows will be hired as contractual employees of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science-MDSG, receiving a base annualized salary of $45,000 plus access to fringe benefits including health care options. Some funding is available for professional development travel. Fellows are jointly supported by both Maryland Sea Grant and the host office.

Application Review:
Applications review begins in June with interviews to follow. Placements will be announced this summer with a September start date. Applications will be accepted until the fellowship placement is filled.
