We talked about this same idea for a bit at the student meeting of our state affiliate, the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education. Students discussed how they could get other students involved in WAEE and NAAEE. I believe the students are planning to intentionally reach out to students at other universities to invite them to activities--they discussed WAEE meetings, but also planning student focused gatherings.
We already have some supporting structures in place--the WAEE has two student board positions and the university that I work at (UW-Stevens Point) has an existing student organization (Environmental Educators and Naturalists Association). I think it will also take ongoing support from professionals.
Perhaps it would help to connect our students with each other somehow?
