Dear NAAEE members,
My name is William Gosnell, and I have the privilege to assist the Education Department at the University of Cincinnati in rolling out an Education for Environmental Sustainability Certification Program! I am eager and honored to be part of such an important service, and I was hoping I could reach out to the NAAEE community for support. The first course in the series will begin next semester as an introduction to the material, and the
University has already called for my textbook selections. The theoretical syllabus created a few years ago, and with a strong focus on NAAEE's guidelines, suggested the following texts:
Sawyer, R. K. (Ed.) (2014 OR 2006). The Cambridge Handbook of the Learning Sciences. Cambridge, MA: Cambridge University Press.
Taylor, N., Quinn, F., & Eames, C. (Eds.). (2015). Educating for Sustainability in Primary Schools: Teaching for the Future. Sense Publishers.
There were also several selections used from:
Walter Leal Filho (Ed). World Trends in Education for Sustainable Development. Bern, Switzerland: Peter Lang.
I was curious anyone could offer advice on the most appropriate/helpful text to use when teaching an introduction to Education for Environmental Sustainability? My background is primarily in Environmental Interpretation at AZA institutions with training through NAI, so I would greatly appreciate feedback from the EE community as I bridge the transition. I have also attached the current rough draft syllabus if anyone is willing to offer suggestions. Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for the introduction to the EE community!
Take care!
William Gosnell
