A colleague of mind in northern India has been working on community-level projects related to Himalayan brown bears - specifically, human-bear conflicts. He'd like to attend graduate school and eventually earn a PhD. He would need help in finding financial assistance. Can anyone suggest programs for him?
Graduate Programs?
For funding, he could look into the WWF Russell E Train Fellowships: https://www.worldwildlife.org/initiatives/russell-e-train-fellowships
Aga Khan Foundation also provides scholarships, and India is within their geographic scope: https://www.akdn.org/our-agencies/aga-khan-foundation/international-scho...
There are some great 1-year Master's programs in the UK that have a lot of international students, including:
MPhil in Conservation Leadership at Cambridge
Multiple Master's programs at Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) - it looks like they offer multiple scholarships, if he keeps a look out for next year: https://www.speciesonthebrink.org/announcements/2019-dice-msc-scholarshi...
There are of course a lot of great programs in the US too, but I've seen a lot of international conservation colleagues choose to go to the UK, perhaps because they are shorter programs and tend to have more international cohorts (maybe more scholarships too?)
