I am advising a student at CSUMB in Environmental Studies. For her senior capstone project, she is working with the City of Watsonville, her home community. Watsonville is on the central coast of California, and is considering a new Resource Conservation Center that will focus on climate action, pollution prevention, water conservation, waste reduction, and natural history. Watsonville is more than 75% Latinx and is in an agricultural area but also with a large wetland system that drains into the Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Her project is to do research on how others are engaging the Latinx community and to identify how having a center would benefit the community at large. She is interviewing both nature centers and natural resource centers or utilities that offer programming to Latinx populations specifically. If you fit this request (or know of others), please reply to this thread, send me your email, or otherwise message me at vderr@csumb.edu, and I can collect responses and forward them on to Ahtziri. Thank you so much for your consideration, and sorry for cross-group postings!
