Hi everyone!
Many apologies for getting this out late, but I wanted to say thank you so much for a great meeting last Monday! I enjoyed chatting about ways we can connect to nature while attending a virtual conference, and I hope you found it helpful too.
I've shared some of the Jamboard highlights. Thanks again, and I hope you have a lovely rest of your week!
Some ways of connecting to nature shared:
- "Go for walks between sessions"
- "Interacting with plants"
- "Pet time :~)"
- "Choose a sit spot near my home and visit for daily nature journaling to draw learning from my place in parallel to my virtual conference learning. look for synergies."
Some resources shared:
- Nature Journaling website by Emilie Lygrn & John Muir Laws: https://howtoteachnaturejournaling.com/
- (NAAEE2021) On-demand bright spot: Backyard Nature Journaling: Improving Mood and Environmental Literacy During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Some big questions shared:
- Is it acceptable (professionally) to log in from outside?
- How is professionalism treated in your organization?
- I feel bad when doing video-on virtual calls one after another (energy use). Do folks have ways of navigating that?
- Thinking about intersections of nature connections and communities of disabilities: how are we defining nature? How are we defining connections to nature? How do those understandings include/exclude disabled communities?
