Listen to the Voice of Creation: Season of Creation Sept 1 - Oct 4, 2022

The Season of Creation is the annual celebration, to listen and respond together to the voice of Creation where the whole world can unite to learn, pray, and act to protect our common home. The Celebration begins on Sept 1 - the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation - and ends on 4 October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

United around the theme, "Listen to the Voice of Creation" during this 2022 Season of Creation, our common prayer and action can help us listen for the voices of those who are silenced. In prayer and contemplation, we rejoice in awe and wonder at the beauty, majesty, and complexity of the cosmos. But we will also lament the individuals, communities, species, and ecosystems who are lost and those whose lives, culture, and livelihoods are threatened by injustice, habitat loss and climate change. We must listen to hear the cry of the earth, the cry of the poor and the cry of the young and those of future generations. Then springboard that awareness to help us renew and strengthen our hope, courage, and determination to action to support our common home, whether in our own backyards or at the upcoming COP 27 and COP 15.

This work of stewardship and building an understanding of our interdependence and kinship with all of creation is not easy and we cannot do it alone. Whether we follow a faith tradition or a moral compass, whether we hear the voice of God from the Burning Bush, or the voices of wisdom and spirit from our spiritual tradition, or our parents, elders, teachers, friends, or those who have come before us ...

As environmental educators we have much to give to our interfaith and ecumenical communities. May we all walk together during this Season of Creation as we listen to the Voice of Creation to help us renew ourselves for this work that we do to teach, live lightly, and advocate for this sacred ground, our common home. Visit seasonofcreation.org for information and activities. Share your own events there whether Christian or interfaith. All are welcome on this journey.

Thanks for sharing, Julia! I've included the Season of Creation link below to make it easily clickable. :)

Julia or anyone else participating in this celebration, if you would like to share about your experience during or after, please reply to this thread or let me know if you'd like to write a blog post!

Thanks so much Jenna!! How did you make the link more clickable? I will post the Season of Creation schedule for our parish for people's FYI and possible adoption for their situation or, if they are nearby, participation. There are a couple of long links and I don't know how to make them "more clickable".

You're very welcome! There should be an option to "Add photos, files, or links" when you create or reply to a discussion post (screenshot below for your reference).

Thanks for sharing your parish's Season of Creation schedule - looking forward to seeing how you all are doing it!
