Field instructors in the EPI's Hawaii Program teach eight or nine-day field ecology courses for teenage students and teachers on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Our programs introduce students to real-world scientific study, engage them in conservation service projects, and raise their cultural and ecological awareness.
This three-day experience is full of powerful and engaging keynote speakers, meaningful discussion about the intersection of social justice and climate change, and collaborative conservations between a national network of climate change education leaders. The NOAA-funded Citizen Science, Civics, and Resilient Communities (CSCRC) project is pleased to make available one-time stipends to 20 recipients selected through a competitive application process . The purpose of the stipend is to support the implementation of the CSCRC project, which includes engaging public participants in active learning about climate hazards through citizen science, deliberative forums and resilience planning.

Overview:
The Hawaii B-WET Coordinator works with program managers from NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, Office for Coastal Management and Office of Education to provide technical support for the B-WET Hawaii grant program. Coordinator reviews B-WET grant proposals, participates in B-WET grant panel committees and B-WET grant site visitations. Coordinator serves as technical monitor for B-WET grants to grant applicants, recipients, and NOAA officials for matters related to grants and funding announcements. Coordinates funding recommendations and the review process for the current competition in coordination with the federal program officer. Promotes best grants management practices internally and externally to help ensure sound program operations through the training modules online with a federal program officer
