Overview:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Volunteer Recruitment & Management
Manage volunteer program – scheduling, recruiting, promoting, tracking and thanking. Recruitment must include specific outreach to the residents of communities that we serve.
Plan and execute volunteer events routinely. Coordinate with staff to develop meaningful volunteer opportunities then manage event logistics including location, food, partners, tasks, set up, clean up, post event follow up.
Volunteer event communication is a large part of GWD’s public relations and this position will be representing the organization to many community members, funders, and individual supporters, therefore, professional and engaging communication styles must be utilized on a one-to-one basis as well as to groups.
Responsible for timely response to all social media, phone and electronic messages to GWD regarding events and volunteer requests.
Enter contact data from volunteer and outreach events into our database accurately and in a timely manner.
Collect waivers and ensure safety at volunteer events.
Communications:
Manage, write and develop strategy and content for social media, quarterly newsletter, website, and other promotional materials.
Build social media following in a quantifiable manner.
With other staff, develop attractive and clear emails through Constant Contact. Keep Constant Contact up-to-date, importing new contacts monthly and clearing out bad data.
Take photos and collect feedback from organizational activities. Organize photos, participant quotes and other feedback for future use.
Press releases and other media communications in collaboration with our marketing firm.
Outreach:
Create outreach strategy that engages the community in our work. Prepare for and participate in fliering/postering, electronic recruitment, and door-to-door outreach to inform people of GWD events or activities.
Represent GWD for speaking opportunities and tabling requests.
Project Support:
Assist Development Director in fundraising activities and marketing implementation.
Serve as a resource for project support across the varied programs.
Work environment will include the GWD office and being in the community for events and outreach.
Other tasks as needed.
Required knowledge and skills:
Strong writing skills as well as knowledge of Constant Contact or other email marketing software.
Demonstrated use of social media platforms and tools, including Facebook and Twitter (required).
Graphic design and web design skills (preferred).
Pro-active – going above and beyond without being asked.
Positive, can-do attitude that can bring others to events, excite them about projects and link them to the mission of GWD is what we require.
Quick, eager learner, able to manage information about the variety of GWD programs/projects and present this to the public in a succinct and captivating manner.
Organized, strong time-management skills to oversee all aspects of events from start to finish.
Passionate about GWD’s mission.
Ability to work respectfully and authentically with all people regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, income, formal education is essential.
Experience working with volunteers is preferred and experience with a nonprofit or within the education field is a plus.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required; conversational and written Spanish is a plus.

Salary and Benefits:
This is a full-time salaried position. The salary range is $36,000- $44,000 per year depending on
experience. Benefits include: paid sick, holiday and vacation hours; health and dental insurance.
