Overview:
B.A. or B.S. is required, with a major or concentration in environmental education, environmental interpretation, biology, earth science, natural resource management, environmental studies, forestry, sustainable agriculture, or closely related course of studies. Familiarity with outdoor education and class management techniques are desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Broad working knowledge of native wildlife, ecology, and natural history, and a willingness to learn specific local information is also needed.
Must be able to lead educational walks on unimproved trails in all seasons, as well as work outside in all seasons. Some lifting to 40 pounds is required in this position. Knowledge and experience working with farm animals and smaller reptiles, mammals, and/or birds in an educational setting a plus.
Technology skills desired: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Constant Contact, website management applications.
Must have a clean Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle. Out of state applicants are welcome to apply. This position is typically a M-F position. Flexibility with schedule is needed, and will require some nights and weekends for specific classes, meetings, or events, depending on the needs of the Trust. Teacher/naturalists must be willing to work in a collaborative environment; naturalists work with all of NRT’s organizational departments as needed, providing support for ongoing operations throughout the year. Employment requires completion of acceptable CORI/SORI. This is a full-time, year-round position, with benefits available, according to NRT policies. Salary commensurate with experience.
