Overview:
Job Description: Maine Outdoor School (MOS) is looking to hire a charismatic and adventurous individual to lead educational programming for MOS’s involvement in Mano en Mano’s Blueberry Harvest School (BHS), based in Harrington, ME. The MOS Outdoor Educator will be directly responsible for supporting curriculum development, lesson planning, preparing for educational programs, delivering educational programs, and administering program evaluation tools as needed.
Program Description: Maine Outdoor School’s mission is to serve as an educational catalyst for personal and community resilience in Downeast Maine through the lenses of economic vitality, environmental sustainability, and social equity. By providing a Maine Outdoor School educator to the Blueberry Harvest School (http://www.manomaine.org/programs/bhs), which aims to develop students’ appreciation of the natural environment and prevent the summer learning loss that migrant students can face due to their mobility, we will further both our missions simultaneously.
Desired Competencies and Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental studies, or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience delivering outdoor education programs
- Experience with developing curricula and formal lesson planning
- Minimum of CPR and First Aid certified
- Highly self-motivated and excels at group and individual tasks
- Has valid US driver’s license and a personal vehicle
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly desired
- Experience or understanding of the realities of migrant farmworkers in the USA preferred
- Experience with natural and cultural history of Downeast Maine preferred

Compensation Information:
$22.98/hr.
