Program Description: EcoKayak is a cutting-edge environmental education program run as a three-way partnership between Tacoma Public Schools, MetroParks and Foss Waterway Seaport. Seventh graders from Hilltop Heritage Middle School’s THRIVE program come to the Seaport every week day to receive combination kayaking and science instruction.Program dates & schedule: **

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 7:30-10:30am September 7th—November 17th 2022

Position Responsibilities:
The assistant science instructor works side-by-side with the lead science instructor to provide support for students both on the water and on shore. Duties will include teaching marine science, biology, chemistry, ecology & conservation. You will be guiding student conversations, assisting kayak instructors, developing and revising curriculum, and other activities as needed.

Who are we looking for?

An outgoing, motivated individual committed to environmental education. We are ideally seeking undergraduate or graduate students in environmental education, environmental studies, marine biology, education, or a related field. Some experience with teaching, whether formal or informal, is required.
