Adventure Trip Leaders lead one to four week trips for youth aged 10-17 across the East Coast. Our trips include backcountry camping, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, service trips and outdoor living skills. From these new experiences, campers discover in themselves newfound confidence and strength. They learn how to trust in themselves, and each other, as they work together to explore, problem-solve, and achieve common goals. An empowering experience for all!

Adventure Trip Leaders will supervise and care for trip campers in loco parentis. Trip Leaders must work well with a co-leader in a remote setting, away from Frost Valley YMCA resources and guidance. The ability to foresee and prevent potential hazards and camper issues is crucial to leading a successful trip. Trip Leaders are responsible for preparing final logistics for each assigned trip and to ensure they have all of the equipment necessary to run a trip safely and successfully. Facilitating a camper’s experience to be positive and insightful is also crucial to this position. The successful candidate truly enjoys working with children of various Frost Valley programs and desires to share their love for the outdoors. We send trips out to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New York and several other sites and our trips include backpacking, hiking, camping, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, climbing, and service elements. Our primary youth demographics are ages 10-17.

Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age or older by July 1st, 2022.
• Must possess clean, valid U.S. driver’s license for the length of the position. Driving record must be approved prior to official acceptance.
• Minimum Wilderness First Aid & CPR certification required. Certifications must be valid June, 2022 through September 1, 2022 and actual, signed card/certification must be shown to Adventure Director prior to July 1st, 2022
• Experience working with kids ages 11-17 in an outdoor setting, or strong desire
