Overview:

Teatown Lake Reservation, the largest community supported, non-profit environmental education center in Westchester County, New York is seeking an Early Childhood and Environmental Art Educator to be a part of the education team that provides environmental education programs for all ages, including school groups, public programs, summer and school break camps and adult workshops. This position requires an enthusiastic, outgoing, and energetic person who will further Teatown’s mission to inspire our community to lifelong environmental stewardship. Ideal candidates must have a background in early childhood or environmental education and a foundation in natural science.

Position Summary: The Early Childhood and Environmental Art Educator
is responsible for developing and teaching early childhood programs and for researching, developing, coordinating, and implementing new initiatives in early childhood/environmental art education.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop, coordinate, implement, and deliver curriculum for Grow Wild Outside, Ossining Children’s Center, and other early childhood programs as warranted. Coordinate program deliverables with education staff.
2. Research and develop environmental art program initiatives which align with Teatown’s mission.
3. Build relationships and maintain communication with early childhood centers, school administrators and other relevant community organizations.
4. Facilitate hands-on engaging, culturally relevant natural science and environmental education programs, classes, and activities for diverse populations.
5. Assist with delivering early childhood and art programs for Teatown’s summer camp.
6. Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating education programs.
7. Assist with maintenance and upkeep of collection, equipment, tools, etc.
8. Assist with special events as assigned.
9. Responsible for various other duties as assigned.
 

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
1. BA or BS in early childhood education, environmental education, or related degree. Three years of teaching experience, preferably in early childhood education, or related field.
2. Working knowledge of the natural sciences and willingness to work on expanding this knowledge.
3. Spanish language skills strongly encouraged.
4. Strong communication skills, ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.
5. Ability to work independently, self-starter.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage time to work on many projects simultaneously.
7. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination sequence, including booster shot(s) where applicable

This is a full-time position with a 35-hour work week. The regular work week is Tuesday - Saturday, 7 hours per day. This position will be performed primarily on-site, with occasional remote work if conditions warrant.

Benefits: Teatown provides health and dental insurance, generous holiday and PTO allotments, and a 403(b) plan with employer contribution.

Salary range: $35,000 - $40,000, commensurate with experience.
