Real Data from Real Scientists to Use in Your Classroom Tomorrow: Learn how to use new Digital Data Nuggets in the DataClassroom web-app
Date and Time:
Monday, March 22, 2021, 8:00pm to 9:00pm
Authentic datasets have the unique ability to capture the attention of students and engage them in the work of scientists. While there is no shortage of data available online, it takes significant time and energy to find and curate datasets for use in classrooms. In addition, datasets are often large and messy, and difficult to work with using just pencil and paper.
Digital Data Nuggets on the DataClassroom web-app help with this problem. These activities are built around authentic datasets and are written by the scientists themselves. The scientists in turn serve as role models for students, as they share the story and motivation behind the work.
In this workshop we will dive into a real-world, messy dataset where we can explore unique questions and learning opportunities that arise from this type of data.
