About Wild Diversity: Wild Diversity helps to create a personal connection to the outdoors for Black, Indigenous, all People of Color (BIPOC) & the LGBTQ+ communities, through outdoor adventures and education. We build community via a wide range of activities for youth and adults: hikes, bird walks, workshops, leadership development, canoe/kayak trip, backpacks and more. We want to increase comfort and visibility for our community in the outdoors.
About the Position: Wild Diversity is seeking a part-time Youth Ecology Educator. This role will create, develop, and implement the curriculum for our year-round Youth Ecology program, including our Wild X Project during the school year and outings in the summer. We seek an individual with previous outdoor education experience, one who has the ability to command youth's attention as well as providing support and mentorship. Our Educator will need experience in curriculum development, building lessons and outlining trip logistics.

The Youth Ecology Educator will seek to convey Wild X’s philosophy of education through instruction and example, and support lessons that meet within Wild Diversity Values. You will take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, and keep accurate records in compliance with relevant laws, policies and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Create and develop teaching curriculum for the Youth Ecology Program.
- Manage Wild X students (K-2) during the school year.
- During the summer months, develop, teach and lead Wild Diversity’s summer Youth Ecology program and experiences.
- During programing, manage youth ecology program students K-8
- Communicate with the Program Coordinator for Youth Ecology program needs.
- Organize gear and equipment for upcoming events and experiences for all programs.
- Other related responsibilities as assigned.
Youth Ecology skills and qualifications:
- Background in ecology, science or related field
- Outdoor education experience
- Curriculum development experience

This position requires:
- Part-Time work of 24 hours a week. Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday during the school year. During the summer weekday and some weekend and overnight availability is required.
- Throughout the school year, meet with the student groups 18 hours every other week for Wild X Project. Developing curriculum in the off weeks.
- Throughout the summer, meet with ecology students and outdoor adventure groups.
- Work with small groups of 10 or less participants and alongside other adults.
- Communicate with the Program Coordinator for program logistics.
- 36-50 hours of paid training outside of workdays for land and water activities.
- Following COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines.
- Over 50% standing/moving/walking throughout the year.
- Facilitating curriculum outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
