Climate Action in the Classroom through Place-Based Solutions

Join EcoRise, experienced teachers, and community partners to explore curriculum resources and student-driven grant opportunities that can be used to shape students’ understanding of the causes and impact of climate change within their community. Through hands-on professional development, teachers will develop the skills and tools that they need to help their students evaluate sustainability issues related to energy, transportation, waste, water, food, air, and public spaces. In addition, teachers will access sustainability and design curriculum to empower their students to design effective, measurable solutions to climate change and connect with like-minded educators. Lastly, we will explore how data collection and design thinking can empower students to become a part of San Antonio’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), fostering innovation and creative problem solving.

This workshop is for current K-12 teachers. All content areas are welcome. Lunch and PD credit will be provided. This training is made possible through the support of the City of San Antonio Office of Sustainability. Thank you to Confluence Park for hosting!
