Overview:
The National Wildlife Visitor Center is seeking intern applicants for the 2019 spring summer and fall seasons. Interns will work with local schools, scouts, clubs and other organized groups to provide inspiring natural history programs. Co-teaching with staff and experienced instructional volunteers, participants will refine their teaching techniques as they deliver both indoor and outdoor programs.
Classes to be Instructed:
- Forest Discovery Tram Tour
- Pond Ecology
- Night Hike
- Indoor Exhibit Tours
- Assist with Live Bird of Prey Program
Requirements:
- Available for both weekday and weekend work
- Available to commit to 24 hours per week
- Able to commit to at least 350 hours for the spring, summer or fall seasons
- Driver’s license
- Department of Interior background check (completed during internship)
- Two years of undergraduate studies
Start and conclusion dates are negotiable, however the following are the program’s ideal timeframe:
- Spring- Feb. 12th through May 25th.
- Summer- June 10th through August 17th
- Fall- September 17rd through November 23rd
