Overview:
The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Outreach Program Coordinator. This position is located within the District's Community Outreach & Business Engagement Division.
The Outreach Program Coordinator will play an important role in providing oversight, management and instruction in fulfilling the District's organizational public outreach efforts. This position will educate and inform its customers in understanding the various causes and impact of water pollution by improving water quality, water conservation and sustainability, and promoting the services it provides and how to best utilize District resources to accomplish identified strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead efforts to create forums, workshops and other opportunities to educate the public on regional water issues and the role the District plays in improving water quality.
- Serve as internal support in the area of meeting outreach goals.
- Provide minimum of quarterly reports to the Commission on outreach efforts and initiatives.
- Compile, update, and distribute multi-media outreach instructional materials, learning tools and other informational resources.
- Develop a broad range of partnerships and relational networks with school administrators, teachers, nature/ecology centers, museums, and other leaders from water and other environmental associations to increase awareness about water quality.
- Assist in the development and implementation of outreach materials and marketing plans. Conduct ongoing assessments of academic learning benchmarks and public outreach needs.
- Provide direction, orientation, training, and support to seasonal interns and/or individuals employed with or through the District via contract or association.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communication, business, education, or related field.
- Two to three years of job-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience in curriculum development
- Experience interfacing with legislative, public, private, and corporate entities
- Experience in the development of outreach strategies
- Understanding of media operations
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Training in website design and communications management
- Experience in public speaking, media interaction and operation
- Experience in developing public relations materials
- Experience in compiling statistics and providing outreach reports and presentations
- Project management experience
- Computer software proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Valid driver's license required
Supplemental Information:
This position requires physical demands carrying documents, files and the ability to lift and carry outreach materials up to 40 lbs while climbing stairs. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Proposed New Salary Range Subject to October 2018 Commission Approval
$69,768.00 - $82,110.00 - $98,532.00
