The NC Museum of Natural Sciences is recruiting a new Head of the Museum’s regional branch in Whiteville, N.C.

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences mission is to illuminate the natural world and inspire its conservation. It is the state's most visited museum, the largest institution of its kind in the southeast US, a National Medal recipient from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and an innovative player in the global field of nature and science museums. The museum’s branch in Whiteville is modeled after proven interactive programs and exhibits at the Museum's Raleigh-based facilities.

The Head of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville reports to the Regional Network Chief to develop, manage, and promote the NC Museum of Natural Sciences' regional branch facility in Whiteville, N.C. This regional branch extends the Museums services to citizens throughout Southeastern North Carolina. This position's duties include: providing local leadership and management to a local team of museum professionals; overseeing the daily operations of the Whiteville Branch; maintaining and developing local indoor and outdoor exhibits; coordinating indoor and outdoor facility maintenance; and serving as a liaison to the communities in the region to promote the Museum and its services. This position will also work closely with board members of the Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville, as well as community leaders. Excellent oral and written communications skills are needed in all aspects of this position with the ability to track progress and maintain efficient and accurate records. Successful candidates must be able to multi-task under stringent deadlines while working independently; in addition, exceptional attention to detail and planning and organizational skills is needed.
