Overview:
Formal and Informal Interpretation and Instruction
- Plan, prepare, present, and market a variety of creative high content level interpretive programs
- Extended hiking and snowshoeing interpretive treks
- Lectures, presentations, and seminars
- Special request programs
- Citizen Science opportunities
- Present weekly nature education segments on local TV, Facebook Live, and other media outlets as needed
- Help to staff Vail Nature Center, Nature Discovery Center, and Walking Mountains Science Center exhibit spaces, as needed.
- Answer questions about exhibits and local recreational opportunities
- Present informal interpretive lessons on the natural and cultural history of Rocky Mountains flora and fauna
- Make sales from gift stores
- Provide directions and routes of travel throughout the White River National Forest
- Collaborate with Community Programs Director and Manager to create educational components of special events and fundraisers
- Other program planning and teaching responsibilities, as assigned
Program Administration
- Develop relationships with concierge, hotels, and businesses to expand the scope of audiences served.
- Assist with establishing unique and individualized program opportunities and desired audiences.
- Document and record participation numbers and use data on public lands
- Serve as liaison between seasonal naturalist interns and Community Programs leadership
