SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 15, 2015—Randi Fisher, co-founder and trustee of the Pisces Foundation (www.piscesfoundation.org), was the recent recipient of the North American Association for Environmental Education's (NAAEE) award for Distinguished Leadership in Environmental Education. One of NAAEE's hallmark honors, the award recognizes an individual who has created systemic change to strengthen the field of environmental education. The award was presented at the opening ceremony of NAAEE's 44th Annual Conference in San Diego.

The Pisces Foundation’s vision, “people and nature thriving together,” reflects Randi’s belief in the importance of environmental education in creating a more sustainable future. Her passion for natural areas drives her goal to lead the charge to promote environmental literacy. In addition to her work for the Foundation, Randi serves in leadership positions at a range of nonprofit organizations focused on environmental stewardship and human well-being.

“For more than four decades, NAAEE has promoted excellence and impact in environmental education thanks to the tireless efforts of our members, supporters, and affiliate organizations,” said Judy Braus, Executive Director. “Our award winners, like Randi, represent bright spots across the globe that show progress in our field across multiple disciplines and approaches, from teaching and community engagement to research and environmental justice. Randi has done so much to advance environmental literacy and we are honored to recognize her legacy.”

This year, award recipients—an impressive slate of individuals and organizations from North America—were selected across 11 categories. For more information about the 2015 NAAEE Awards including eligibility requirements and a full list of winners, visit www.naaee.org/our-work/programs/awards
