"It's a Bird" is a short graphic novel written by Christian Cooper and illustrated by Alitha E. Martinez. A semi-fictionalized account of Cooper's own experiences, it introduces Jules, a Black teenage birder who receives a special pair of binoculars. "It's a Bird" addresses the intersectionality of environment and racism, and is published and free to download by DC Comics. This story is the first chapter of a new series titled "Represent!" which will showcase creators who are typically underrepresented in the mainstream comic book realm.
