Overview:
Responsibilities:
Coordinates Yampatika’s youth environmental education programs including: Environmental Literacy Program, TENS, Montessori, Fire Education and Private Programs. Specifics include:
- Scheduling programs with school districts and Yampatika Naturalists;
- Developing new school partnerships for school and community programs to support program expansion;
- Providing support to Naturalists teaching programs as well as maintaining and creating resources for school programs;
- Ensuring that the programs meets the objectives of Yampatika’s mission as well as partner organizations.
- Leading the maintenance of resources including safety equipment, teaching supplies, specimens, and library books
- Maintaining and updating “Discovery Boxes”
- Scheduling, tracking, and collaborating on evaluating and reporting on all school programs;
- Coordinating with Program Director and evaluation staff to ensure quality program evaluation
- Teaching and facilitating dynamic education programs for youth and stepping in to lead adult programming as needed;
- Performing annual evaluation of programs with program staff
Other responsibilities include:
- Assists in maintaining a clean, safe and user-friendly facility at Yampatika’s Environmental Learning Center at Legacy Ranch. This may include coordinating cleaning, snowplowing and service-learning days as well as other tasks as needed;
- Assists with partner agreements and reporting;
- Fields telephone calls and on-site inquiries related to all of Yampatika’s programs;
- Assists with program registrations outside of school programs as needed;
- Maintains accurate and transparent records and open communication;
- Participates in staff trainings and meetings;
- Miscellaneous duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Passion for Yampatika’s mission and working with youth
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/education, Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google based programs, and current technology
- 2-5 years experience working with elementary schools
- Strong background and experience in the field of environmental education
- Knowledge of the Rocky Mountain ecology and geography a plus
- Current driver’s license and ability to use personal vehicle to travel to programs locally and further distances.
- Enthusiasm and sincere interest in environmental education
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes on short notice as well as willingness to accept new tasks
- Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion
- Ability to work in small, busy office environment
