Overview:
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate and continue to develop a dynamic internship program with recruitment, onboarding, and training practices that support the Zoo’s mission
- Through inter-departmental collaboration, develop continuing education courses for interns, and facilitate final intern project presentations
- Coordinate community and corporate group service projects by communicating with all internal departments
- Develop effective processes for group volunteer applications, confirmations, and scheduling
- Facilitate website updates for interns and group volunteers in collaboration with internal departments
- Collaborate with multiple Zoo departments to assess volunteer needs and assist with processes to meet those needs
- Liaison, communicate, and facilitate connections between volunteer programs, volunteer committees, Zoo staff, and community partnerships
- Assist Volunteer manager with the development of adult volunteer programs, including trainings, messaging, and tactical planning
- Advocate for all aspects of the volunteer program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as approved by the manager
- Contribute to saving animals in the wild through: reduction of waste, water, and energy use and inspiring guests and staff to take wildlife protecting actions
- Support Zoo operational sustainable practices in all decision-making
Education and Experience
- BA/BS degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience
