Overview:

This exciting position is responsible for the coordination of volunteer programs focused on connecting our volunteer community with opportunities that support the Houston Zoo through involvement in daily operations, events, and initiatives. In addition, our coordinator facilitates and maintains an active recruitment process designed to meet the demand for coverage of events with volunteer participation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate all aspects of the bi-annual volunteer recognition events

Coordinate all Adult All-Volunteer Meetings

Develop and implement logistics of multiple adult volunteer recruitments per year

Develop content and objectives for new adult volunteer orientations

Facilitate website updates for new volunteers and specific event recruitment in collaboration with internal departments

Collaborate with multiple Zoo departments to assess volunteer needs and assist with processes to meet those needs

Liaison, communicate, and facilitate connections between volunteer programs, volunteer committees, Zoo staff, and community partnerships

 

Education and Experience

BA/BS degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience dealing with volunteer recruitment and organization

 

Work Hours

Normal schedule – 4 weekdays and 1 weekend day, 8am -5pm, some evenings / weekends / holidays required
