Position Overview
As part of MSU Extension (MSUE) and the Community, Food and Environment Institute (CFEI), this position provides administrative leadership to the Upper Peninsula Resource Conservation District (UPRCD) and educational programming expertise in alignment with CFEI, and its Natural Resources Workgroup. Coverage responsibilities include the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan.
In this position, you will provide leadership for the UPRCD, including working with the UPRCD Board of Directors in directing the organization’s fiscal, administrative, and programmatic activities. You will also be responsible for organizing educational responses to a broad range of key terrestrial and natural resources issues in the region in conjunction with the MSUE Natural Resource Workgroup members and partner organizations.
You will also identify, design, implement and evaluate research-based educational programs that meet outreach needs related to natural resources, including delivery of signature programs that include natural resources literacy and leadership, ecosystem health, and natural resources enterprises. Through your leadership, you will develop new partnerships, community philanthropy efforts and recommend, secure, and oversee implementation of grant deliverables and funds.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues at MSU and the diverse network of partner groups associated with the Upper Peninsula Resource Conservation District. Through collaboration in research, engagement with community members, and dissemination of research through various methods, you will implement programs that lead to public knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that improve public understanding of our state’s natural resources. You will develop, produce, and deliver forest and/or natural resource stewardship-related outreach materials with messaging and content that is accessible and inclusive and is consistent with the CFEI and UPRCD messaging.

- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or related field must be earned by date of hire, with an expectation to complete a Master's degree within a specified time frame; or Master’s degree in Biology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or related field.
