Overview:
We are currently hiring for the following positions: Summer Camp Instructor, Bilingual Summer Camp Instructor, Extended Care Lead and Extended Care Assistant. Apply to join the Thorne team. Spend a summer providing youth with joyful, hands-on, place-based experiences that foster an emotional connection to nature!
Start Date: Camps begin May 31, 2022 (training is week of May 16)
End Date: August 16, 2022
Compensation: $1150 -$1275 per session, depending on experience
*Bonus available for those bilingual in Spanish/English
Thorne's Summer Camp Instructors take their love of nature to the next level! With over 60 years of expertise leading outdoor programs, we combine the best activities of summer into one camp. Thorne's instructors are fun, passionate, collaborative, and love being outside in nature with youth!
Thorne offers two-weeklong day camps in Boulder and Lafayette for children ages 5-15. Themes include crafting, nature art, wild nature play, survival skills, and scientific discovery. Instructors mentor with just the right mix of exploration and hands-on learning. Because campers and instructors have the chance to explore their own passions, each session is unique. Thorne also believes that nature is for everyone. 25% of our campers receive full scholarships to help ensure access for all.

Summer Camp Employment Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older
- Passion for outdoor adventures and connecting youth to nature
- Experience or interest in teaching in an outdoor setting
- Strong communication skills with adults and children
- Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and roles, patiently and professionally
- Experience relating to and communicating with diverse audiences, especially Latinx participants and families preferred
- People of Color encouraged to apply
- Bilingual in Spanish/English eligible for bonus
IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR AN INSTRUCTOR SUMMER CAMP POSITION, you must have a minimum of 460 hours of full time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
You must provide letter(s) of recommendation from organizations or businesses in which you have been involved in the care or supervision of four or more children since you have turned 18. The letter(s) must include a summary of your qualifications and the number of hours you have worked in that position. Any letters of recommendation must be on company letterhead, and the reference needs to provide their contact information, including an address, phone number, and email address.
