Overview:
Thorne Summer Camp in Boulder, Louisville, and Littleton has been connecting youth to nature since 1957! Each summer, Thorne offers more than 150 “Camp Experiences” for youth ages 3-15. Thorne’s “Camp Experiences” allow youth to explore in nature and offer just the right mix of fun and hands-on learning. Join us in getting youth outside and connecting to the wild landscapes of Colorado!
We are currently hiring for the following positions: Summer Camp Instructor, Bilingual Summer Camp Instructor, Summer Camp Extended Care Lead Instructor, Summer Camp Field Coordinator, Summer Camp Assistant Instructor, Summer Camp Extended Care Assistant Instructor, and Summer Camp Field Assistant Intern at all locations.
As a Summer Camp staff member, you will become part of a team of nature-oriented professionals who receive support from our camp leaders, develop environmental education skills, and enjoy a community of peers who value a profound connection to nature in our lives.
Summer Camp Employment Qualifications:
• Must be 18 or older, 21 or older required for some positions
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education, Environmental Studies, Biology, Geology, Education, or related field preferred
Experienced Instructor, especially in an outdoor setting
Strong communication skills with adults and children
Good knowledge of Colorado ecology and natural science
Ability and desire to create excellent “Camp Experiences”
Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and roles, patiently and professionally
IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR AN INSTRUCTOR OR FIELD COORDINATOR SUMMER CAMP POSITION you must have a minimum of 480 hours of full time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
You must provide letter(s) of recommendation from organizations or businesses in which you have been involved in the care or supervision of four or more children since you have turned 18. The letter(s) must include a summary of your qualifications and the number of hours you have worked in that position. Any letters of recommendation must be on company letterhead, and the reference needs to provide their contact information, including an address, phone number, and email address.
